Bakteria pneumokokus ialah punca bakteria paling biasa bagi radang paru-paru pada orang dewasa. Ini bukan vaksin tahunan: bagi kebanyakan orang dewasa ia satu atau dua dos, dan mana satu bergantung pada umur serta keadaan kesihatan anda.

Apa yang vaksin pneumokokal lindungi
Bakteria pneumokokus dibawa tanpa bahaya di dalam hidung dan tekak oleh ramai orang. Ia menyebabkan penyakit apabila ia sampai ke paru-paru, ke aliran darah atau ke selaput otak, dan ia punca bakteria paling biasa bagi radang paru-paru pada orang dewasa.
Risiko meningkat dengan umur dan dengan penyakit kronik, dan daripada situlah datangnya saranan di bawah.
Siapa yang disyorkan mengambil vaksin pneumokokal
- Orang dewasa berumur 65 tahun ke atas
- Orang dewasa dengan penyakit jantung, paru-paru, hati atau buah pinggang kronik
- Penghidap diabetes
- Orang tanpa limpa yang berfungsi, dan penghidap penyakit sel sabit
- Orang yang sistem imunnya lemah, termasuk akibat ubat
- Perokok
- Kanak-kanak kecil, sebagai sebahagian imunisasi kanak-kanak rutin
Bawa sebarang rekod vaksinasi pneumokokal terdahulu. Vaksin mana yang anda perlukan bergantung sebahagiannya pada apa yang pernah anda ambil.
Bagaimana dosnya berfungsi
Ada lebih daripada satu jenis vaksin pneumokokal, dan ia tidak boleh ditukar ganti. Yang mana anda perlukan, dan sama ada anda perlukan lebih daripada satu, bergantung pada umur anda, keadaan kesihatan anda, dan apa yang pernah anda ambil sebelum ini.
Ini bukan vaksin tahunan. Bagi kebanyakan orang dewasa kursusnya satu atau dua dos, berselang mengikut tempoh yang ditetapkan, dan pelan itu ditentukan dalam sesi perbincangan. Kesan sampingan lazimnya rasa sakit di tempat suntikan, kadangkala dengan demam ringan atau sakit-sakit badan selama sehari.
Bezanya dengan vaksin flu
Kedua-duanya kerap disyorkan bersama, terutamanya bagi warga emas, dan mengambil satu bukan pengganti kepada yang satu lagi.

The clinic is clean, the staff are professional and welcoming, incredibly efficient. The clinic interior design also calming and made my visits less anxious. The doctors here (Dr. Chan & Dr. Kon - sorry if misspelled) are very attentive, explain briefly to me what the do's and don'ts on after care treatments and for future preventions. I also just learned that this clinic is specialized in skin problems and i refer my dry and ictchy skin problems on my fingers. I've been put some plasters to hide the crack and dry skin for months. The level of care provided was excellent, and the treatment received was highly effective. Healthcare environments can sometimes feel stressful, but this clinic has a wonderful, relaxing atmosphere. The interior design is tasteful and calming, using warm colors and great lighting that made my visit much less anxious. It felt more like a wellness center than a clinic.
