一般人都以为割包皮是婴儿时期做的事。实际上，相当一部分接受手术的男性是成年人，理由有医疗上的，也一样常有非医疗上的。
- 包茎：包皮过紧，无法翻开

- 第2-3天多数男性恢复轻度的日常活动与办公室工作。
- 第3天起肿胀大约在这时达到高峰，之后一至两周内消退。
- 第4-6周在这段时间结束之前，不做剧烈运动，也不进行性行为。
- 6周完全愈合，也是最早适合评断结果的时候。
决定愈合好坏的术后护理
五件事，没有一件可以省。割包皮之后的并发症，多数来自术后那两个星期，而不是手术本身。
- 保持清洁干爽
- 除非另有交代，可以淋浴；伤口轻轻拭干，不要搓。
- 宽松的内裤
- 有承托但不压迫。在第一周，这比多数男性想象的更重要。
- 4-6 周内不做剧烈活动
- 不做剧烈运动，也不进行性行为或自慰。太早开始有让伤口裂开的风险。
- 把药吃完
- 处方的抗生素与止痛药，按时服用，而不是等到痛了才吃。
- 按时复诊
- 即使一切看起来都好。钉合环下面的愈合情况，不是您自己能判断的。

研究显示，割包皮能降低龟头炎与包茎的发生率，让清洁更容易，也降低尿路感染的风险。多项国际研究也发现，割过包皮的男性感染 HIV、HPV 与部分细菌性性传播感染的风险相对较低，伴侣患子宫颈癌的风险也随之下降。不过它不能取代安全套：割包皮降低的是风险，不是把风险归零。
不需要医疗上的理由也可以做。不过如果下面的前三项中有任何一项符合，传讯息时请说明：这几种情况在您犹豫的期间可能会恶化。

康复

时间表大致如此：第2至3天，多数人可以恢复轻度活动与办公室工作；第3天起肿胀达到高峰，之后一至两周内消退；第4至6周内不做剧烈运动、不进行性行为；六周时完全愈合，也是最早适合评断结果的时候。

The clinic is clean, the staff are professional and welcoming, incredibly efficient. The clinic interior design also calming and made my visits less anxious. The doctors here (Dr. Chan & Dr. Kon - sorry if misspelled) are very attentive, explain briefly to me what the do's and don'ts on after care treatments and for future preventions.
