Why adults have a circumcision
Circumcision is widely assumed to be something done to infants. A good share of the men who have it done are adults, for reasons that are medical as often as they are not.
- Phimosis: a foreskin too tight to retract
- Paraphimosis, or recurrent balanitis
- Hygiene, which becomes easier to maintain
- A lower risk of urinary tract infections, and of acquiring some sexually transmitted infections
- Religious or cultural practice
- Personal preference, which needs no further reason
You do not need a medical reason. If one of the first three applies, though, say so when you message: those are the ones that can get worse while you decide.
The stapler (ZSR) technique
A device removes the foreskin and seals the wound in one action, without stitches. Chye Clinic is an authorised provider of it.
Compared with conventional cutting and suturing it means less bleeding, a lower risk of wound infection, a neater result, and a faster recovery. Conventional technique is not obsolete, and there are cases where it remains the better choice; which one suits you is decided at the examination rather than in advance.

Circumcision aftercare that decides how it heals
Five things, and none of them optional. Most complications after a circumcision come from the fortnight after it rather than from the procedure.
- Keep it clean and dry
- Shower unless told otherwise, and dry the wound gently rather than rubbing it.
- Loose underwear
- Something that supports without pressing. This matters more in the first week than most men expect.
- Nothing strenuous for 4-6 weeks
- No heavy exercise, and no sexual activity or masturbation. Resuming early risks reopening the wound.
- Finish the medication
- Prescribed antibiotics and pain relief, taken on schedule rather than waited for.
- Attend the follow-up
- Even if it all looks fine. Healing under a staple ring is not something to assess yourself.

The clinic is clean, the staff are professional and welcoming, incredibly efficient. The clinic interior design also calming and made my visits less anxious.
