Chye Clinic is one of very few private clinics in Kepong that does not charge for this test, and there is nothing to sign up for first. Walk in, ask for it, and you will have the result before you leave.

Reasons to test that have nothing to do with symptoms
HIV causes nothing recognisable for years. Almost everyone who tests is testing because of something that happened, not something they can feel.
- A condom broke, slipped, or was not used
- A new partner, or more than one, since you last tested
- You have been diagnosed with another sexually transmitted infection
- Your partner's status is unknown, or known and not suppressed
- You are starting PrEP, which cannot be prescribed without a negative result first
- You are pregnant, or planning to be
Testing without any of these is also reasonable. Knowing is the point, and the test is free either way.
Why finding it early changes the outcome
HIV is treatable. Someone diagnosed early and started on treatment can expect a normal lifespan, and once the virus is suppressed cannot pass it on sexually. Almost everything that makes HIV dangerous follows from finding it late rather than from having it.
That is the whole argument for testing, and it is not a fearful one: an early result gives you options a late one does not.

A 4th-generation test looks for the p24 antigen as well as antibodies, which is what lets it detect an infection earlier than an antibody-only test.

If the test is reactive
A reactive rapid test is not a diagnosis. It is the start of a short, defined sequence, and you are seen through all of it here.
- It is confirmed, not assumed
- A reactive rapid result goes to a laboratory confirmatory test. Rapid tests are built to over-call rather than to miss, so a reactive result is not the same as an infection.

Gardasil 9 for HPV and the hepatitis B vaccine: prevention for the two infections here that a vaccine can stop.

The clinic is clean, the staff are professional and welcoming, incredibly efficient. The clinic interior design also calming and made my visits less anxious. The doctors here (Dr. Chan & Dr. Kon - sorry if misspelled) are very attentive, explain briefly to me what the do's and don'ts on after care treatments and for future preventions. I also just learned that this clinic is specialized in skin problems and i refer my dry and ictchy skin problems on my fingers. I've been put some plasters to hide the crack and dry skin for months. The level of care provided was excellent, and the treatment received was highly effective. Healthcare environments can sometimes feel stressful, but this clinic has a wonderful, relaxing atmosphere.
