Premature ejaculation treatment in KL

Finishing too soon, most times, and not being able to hold back. It is one of the most common sexual complaints men bring to a doctor, and one of the most treatable once the cause is clear.

  • Commonone of the most frequent sexual complaints men raise
  • Treatablewith techniques, medication or both
  • Privatea confidential consultation
  • Walk inno appointment needed

Worth being seen about if any of these apply

Finishing sooner than you would like now and then is normal. When it happens most times and you cannot hold it back, it is a medical problem, and a common one.

  • You ejaculate within about a minute of penetration, most times
  • You cannot delay it, even when you try
  • It started recently, after years without a problem
  • It is causing you distress, or tension with your partner
  • You also have trouble getting or keeping an erection
  • You have pain or burning when you ejaculate or pass urine

The last two change the picture. Erection trouble is a common hidden cause, and pain can point to an infection or prostate inflammation that needs treating first.

What counts as premature

No stopwatch applies to every man. Doctors look at three things together.

  1. How soon it happens

Usually within about a minute of penetration, most times.

  2. and

    Whether you can hold back

You cannot delay it, even when you try.

  3. and

    Whether it bothers you

It causes you distress, or strain with your partner.

  4. together:

    Worth treating

When all three are true, most times.

What causes premature ejaculation

Often a physical cause and a psychological one feed each other, so the consultation looks at both.

Physical

  • Erection trouble, and rushing to finish before the erection fades
  • Prostate inflammation (prostatitis) or a urinary infection
  • An overactive thyroid
  • Higher sensitivity of the penis

Psychological and relationship

  • Performance anxiety, often built on the last attempt
  • Stress, low mood or poor sleep
  • Tension in the relationship, or long gaps between sex
  • Early experiences of having to finish quickly

How premature ejaculation is treated

The doctor picks from these after the assessment. Most men need one or two, not all of them.

Techniques you practise
The stop-start and squeeze methods train control over a few weeks. They cost nothing and are often the first step.
Pelvic-floor training
Strengthening the muscles that control ejaculation, with exercises at home or the clinic's EMS chair where it suits you.
Numbing spray or cream
A local anaesthetic used before sex to lower sensitivity, with a condom or wiped off first so your partner is not numbed too.
Medication
Tablets that delay ejaculation, taken before sex or daily. The doctor checks your other medicines first, because some do not mix.
Treating the cause
Where erection trouble, an infection or a thyroid problem is behind it, treating that often settles the timing as well.
Talking it through
Counselling, on your own or as a couple, where anxiety or the relationship is part of it.

What happens at the consultation

  1. The history

Whether it has always been this way or started recently, how often it happens, and whether erections are also a problem. Each answer points somewhere different.

  2. The rest of your health

Urinary symptoms, thyroid symptoms, your current medicines and your mood. Blood tests if the history suggests a cause worth checking.

  3. Examination where it is warranted

For example when there is pain or burning, which can point to an infection or prostate inflammation.

  4. A plan you agree to

Usually a combination from the treatments above, with a review after a few weeks to see what has changed.

Common questions

How quick is too quick?
There is no single number for everyone. Ejaculating within about a minute most times, without being able to delay it, and being bothered by it, is the usual point where doctors treat it. If it bothers you, it is worth raising either way.
Will it go away on its own?
Sometimes, when it follows a stressful patch or a long gap. If it has lasted more than a few months, treatment usually works better than waiting.
Is it linked to erectile dysfunction?
Often. A man worried about losing his erection may rush to finish. Treating the erection frequently fixes the timing too, which is why the doctor asks about both.
Are the sprays and tablets sold online safe?
Some are, and some do not contain what the label says. Tablets that delay ejaculation interact with other medicines, including some antidepressants, so they should come with a prescription.
Can my partner come to the consultation?
Yes, if you both want that. Coming on your own is just as usual.
