The mental health problems we treat

You do not need a diagnosis to come in. Most people arrive with a description rather than a name for it.

  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Insomnia
  • Panic attacks
  • Specific phobias
  • Personality disorders
  • Grief and situational distress after a bereavement or a major setback

The last line matters. Distress after something happened is a reason to be seen, not something you have to justify as an illness first.

The two things treatment is built from

Usually together rather than one instead of the other, and which comes first is decided with you.

Cognitive behavioural therapy
A structured talking therapy that works on the patterns of thinking and behaviour keeping distress going, and builds coping skills that hold up afterwards. It is among the better-evidenced talking therapies, and for several conditions it works at least as well as medication.
Medication
A real role, usually alongside therapy rather than instead of it: reducing symptoms enough to function, and preventing relapse once someone is well.
Why it needs assessing first
Psychiatric medication obtained without consultation is a common route to unpleasant side effects and to treatment that does not work, because the medication was never matched to the problem in the first place.
Therapy alone is common
Many people are treated without medication at all. Where it is appropriate, it is discussed with you before anything is prescribed.

Why mental health care here rather than somewhere separate

Mental health is not separable from physical health. It shapes sleep, appetite, pain, and whether someone keeps up with treatment for anything else.

Being seen by a doctor who already holds the rest of your record means the assessment starts from a fuller picture, and referral onward is straightforward where specialist care is the right answer.

This stays between you and your doctor

Your consultation
Private and non-judgmental, whatever your gender, orientation or relationship status.
Your records
Encrypted in the clinic's own system, and only you can authorise access to them. Clinic staff cannot retrieve your results without your explicit consent.
Your name
You do not have to give one to be seen. Patients who would rather test anonymously can do so.
Your doctor
Every doctor here is named on this site with their training, and one of them is a Family Medicine Specialist on the National Specialist Register. Follow-up questions and repeat prescriptions go to the doctor who saw you, directly on WhatsApp rather than through a front desk.

Come in, or ask first

Walk in any time we are open (daily, 9:00am to 8:00pm), or send a message and ask whatever you need to ask before you do.

What is CBT?
Cognitive behavioural therapy: a structured talking therapy that works on the thinking and behaviour patterns maintaining a problem, and builds coping skills you keep.
